“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
We read this verse and feel the warmth of God’s promise—but when you’re in the middle of pain, trauma, or uncertainty, it can feel so far away. I know, because I’ve been there.
The Surgery That Changed Everything
One year ago, I had surgery to remove a tumor from inside my spine. I walked into the hospital not knowing what life would look like on the other side. And while the physical healing has been slow, the mental battle that followed was far more intense than I could’ve ever prepared for.
The Spiral No One Talks About
After surgery, I found myself consumed with intrusive, terrifying thoughts—especially about my children. Every moment I wasn’t with them, my mind would spiral. I’d picture every worst-case scenario possible, tormenting myself with “what ifs” and nightmares I couldn’t shake.
I was miserable.
I wanted peace. I prayed for peace. But God showed me something powerful:
Peace starts in the mind, and the mind must be renewed.
Why Renewal Is Not Optional
Romans 12:2 says:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Not a suggestion. A command. And I now understand why.
Because when your mind is left unchecked, it will run wild.
It will follow fear instead of faith.
It will rehearse trauma instead of truth.
And it will keep you stuck in survival when God is calling you to step into abundance.
My Fight for a Renewed Mind
Healing wasn’t passive. It was a fight. I had to wrestle for my mind every single day—sometimes even in my sleep.
I had to learn how to take thoughts captive—just like the Word says in 2 Corinthians 10:5. That means interrupting the spiral before it could take over.
Here’s what helped me:
1. Catch the Thought and Call It What It Is
When a thought crept in, I didn’t entertain it anymore. I would literally stop and say:
“Nope. That’s not from God. That’s fear. That’s torment. And I don’t subscribe to that anymore.”
2. Replace It Immediately
I had to speak truth out loud:
- “God is for me.”
- “My children are protected.”
- “This is not the end of the story.”
- “Everything is working out for my highest good.”
Your brain needs new patterns. And new thoughts must be planted like seeds.
3. Encourage Yourself—Even When No One Else Will
There were moments I had to put my hand on my heart and just breathe.
I’d tell my nervous system, “You’re safe. It’s okay.”
And I’d declare:
“It was what it was. It is what it is. And it will be what it will be. But I trust God with the outcome.”
4. Guard What You Consume
I became hyper-aware of who I listened to, what I watched, and even the conversations I allowed.
If it wasn’t faith-filled or hopeful, it didn’t get access to my mind. Period.
Why This Matters for Business (and Wealth Building)
Mindset isn’t just a “nice thing to work on”—it’s the foundation for everything. Especially if you’re trying to build a business, make money online, or walk in purpose.
You can learn all the strategies. Take all the courses. But if your mind is tormented, fearful, or stuck in survival, you’ll sabotage yourself before you ever get to the fruit.
Here’s the truth:
Your outer world will never surpass your inner world.
That’s why God asks us to renew our mind. Because He’s already made the way—but we have to come into agreement with it.
You Can Build a Business. You Can Create Wealth. But It Starts in the Mind.
If you’re believing:
- “I’m not qualified.”
- “I don’t have time.”
- “It’s probably too late for me.”
- “What if I fail?”
Then you need to do what I did—renew your mind with God’s truth.
You are equipped.
You were created for such a time as this.
You can change your life—but you must first change your thoughts.
Final Encouragement
I don’t know what you’re walking through.
Maybe it’s a health battle. Maybe it’s anxiety. Maybe you’re trying to start a business but keep getting stuck in fear.
Whatever it is, I want you to hear this:
God wants to prosper you. He has a future for you. And it starts with your mind.
This journey isn’t always pretty. But it’s possible.
And if I can do it—even while healing, even while fighting through dark thoughts—you can too.
Don’t give up.
- Renew your mind daily.
- Speak life even when you don’t feel it.
- Fight for your future.
Your mindset matters more than you know—because your purpose, your peace, and your prosperity all flow from it. I wrote 10 Money Mindsets Gods Way, I hope it encourages you and help you shift your mindset!
And friend?
That future you’re dreaming about—it’s already written in God’s plan.
With love & faith,
